Incredible things happened at Bothmer Castle... In 1730, Hans Kaspar von Bothmer and his friend Georg Friedrich Händel traveled from London to the Klützer Winkel in Mecklenburg. They visited the building site of the future Bothmer Castle and experienced a unique summer retreat! Bothmer fell in love again and Handel enjoyed a firework display of inspiration.
Things were less romantic in August 1852. An assassination attempt on the authorities, a case of rioting, a "trail of blood in Bothmer Castle"!
In his books "Blutspur im Schloss Bothmer" and "Sommerliebe auf Schloss Bothmer", the author Frank Pergande describes the historical events in a literary way and gives the audience a little insight into the history of the castle.
