Pastor Gnadenreich and the members of his church choir are looking for a new soloist after the previous one has passed away. Fortunately, a great artist is interested in filling the vacant position. But an old acquaintance is also very interested in joining the award-winning choir. A competition ensues in which voices become a minor matter. The surprise appearance of a wine merchant from Alsace, who was supposed to be serving a prison sentence, also causes a stir. And so the evening ends with the tragic death of one of the protagonists. With the help of the guests, it is now urgent to find out who is responsible before dessert.
