READING with Sonja Voß-Scharfenberg, Kai Pohl and Holger Lehmann
The world is coming apart at the seams! But not in MV, where the term "Tauversicht" has been voted the most beautiful Low German word of 2024 as an expression of confidence.
FUGE is the theme of this 53rd issue of RISSE, to which eight authors have submitted their texts, including an astonishing and gratifying amount of poetry! Kai Pohl, Ulrich Grasnick, Steffen M. Diebold, Stephan Langhans and Holger Lehmann have contributed poems, while prose has arrived from Carola Weider, David Lorenz and Sonja Voß-Scharfenberg, the latter of whom adds her "Lebens Lauf IV" to "Lebens Lauf III" in RISSE special issue 11. Whether these joints separate or connect, explore well-tempered counterpoints, are to be seen as interstices, gaps, seams or even gaps caused by tolerance or construction is up to you to decide.
The graphics by Michael Kewitsch have something to do with the "Brägenplietschmaschin": with artificial intelligence (voted the "most current expression" in the 2023 Low German competition organized by the Heimatverband MV and the Fritz Reuter Museum in Stavenhagen).
We also take a look at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 2024 Literature Prize awarded in October and the Uwe Johnson Society in Rostock, we focus on Kafka on the 100th anniversary of his death in the Reread section, we have Euphoricus and Dysphoricus take apart Jenny Erpenbeck's Kairos and we look at new books by Bertram Reinecke, Saša Stanišić and Alina Herbing in the literary criticism section.
