Concert of contrasts and similarities
Tchaikovsky meets minimal music - it would be hard to imagine two greater opposites. On the one hand, the rich, intense music of the Russian composer, full of melodies and harmonies, and on the other, Steve Reich's repetitive work, consisting of short motifs and focused on simplicity: this contrasting and exciting mixture is what makes this evening in Putbus so special. It is also a summit meeting of twelve musicians invited to Rügen by artistic director and festival prizewinner Alexei Gerassimez. In this concert, they will explore the contrasts and similarities between the musical styles of the 19th and 20th centuries.
