The Berlin songwriter Tobias Panwitz (formerly Trailhead) incorporates travel experiences and encounters along the way into energetic folk songs and atmospheric ballads. With guitar, harmonica and piano, Panwitz sings about experiences between American country roads, Spanish paths, Latvian rivers and South American landscapes. Influenced by America's classic songwriters of the 60s and 70s, Panwitz combines his English and German songs with stories and tales about the places and moments in which they were written.
Whether on Spanish caminos, the high plateaus of Norway or in the Peruvian Andes - Panwitz prefers to be on foot. "Walking is good monotony for me, ideas and songs come and go, some stick. And walking itself is pure rhythm. The steps alone give you the groove for a song."
Over the years, so many songs have been written while walking and about walking that Panwitz has now combined many of them on his latest walking song album "Keep Walking" and on "Into The Mountains", his latest album, which he wrote on his hike across the Alps.
Tobias Panwitz has been part of the German folk & songwriter scene for years, has recorded five critically acclaimed albums and is more or less constantly on tour throughout Germany and Europe. Panwitz's music is always well received. "Sublime", "Amazing", "Excellent" and "Convincing" were the verdicts of the Berliner Tagesspiegel, Americana UK, Tip Stadtmagazin and Americana Music Times, for example.
