Jazz & Chanson, World Music

A unique singer and songwriter at the interface of folk, folk and jazz.

Randi is known for her warm, clear voice and top-class communication. It is genuine and intimate. Together with the musicians Dag Vagle and Erlend E. Aasland, she has formed the Randi Tytingvåg Trio. The close interplay and delicate choruses have become the trio's trademark. They perform the "old-fashioned way": all three around a microphone. They don't need monitors or a backline! They seem like a unique little chamber orchestra with a wide dynamic range.
On the lyrical side, Tytingvåg has entered into an exciting collaboration with poet Helge Torvund. They work together in an inspired and genuine flow.

The first time they worked together was in 2019 on the album The Light You Need Exists. It was a great success. In the fall of 2021, their first Norwegian-language songs were released on the album Trøsteviser for redde netter (Comforting songs for anxiety-filled nights). Tytingvåg and Torvund share a strong desire for the light to shine through in their work. Comfort carries a vulnerability, but also a hint of hope that something better lies ahead.
In recent years, the Randi Tytingvåg Trio has toured extensively in Norway, Germany and Austria. They have received rave reviews for both their concerts and their albums.

As a music student in London, Randi studied with jazz singer Lee Gibson and composer Michael Burnett. In 2001 she graduated from the School of the Arts in Roehampon. In the same year she made her debut with Maijazz. In 2004, she was voted Stavanger Artist of the Year in her home town. In 2006, she made her theater debut with the leading role in the musical drama Skyfri himmel (Olaug Nilssen/Bjørn Eidsvåg) at Rogaland Theater. In the fall of 2011, she returned to the theater stage in the play MOR: Eg konne vel tenkt meg å gå heile Den kinesiske mur (Rønnaug Kleiva/Randi Tytingvåg). This piece is based on her own songs.
She has released nine albums and two EPs to date.
