Book presentation "SEEK" & talk with Lutz Dammbeck followed by a visit to the archive exhibition "SEEK" as part of the 23rd Ahrenshooper Literaturtage
At Künstlerhaus Lukas, Lutz Dammbeck presents his new book "SEEK. Der Golem kommt - Affairen mit Kunst, Wissenschaft und Technologie" (written during his time as an honorary fellow in Ahrenshoop, published by Spector Books in 2023).
In conversation with Margit Rosen, head of the "Knowledge - Collection, Archives & Research" department at the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, he will discuss the dominance and glorification of technology, the economization of life and the will to subjugate nature. The book presentation and discussion will take place in an exhibition "SEEK" with archive material by Lutz Dammbeck.
Lutz Dammbeck is a filmmaker, author and conceptual artist. Born in Leipzig in 1948, he now lives in Hamburg and is an honorary fellow of the Künstlerhaus Lukas.
He is an artistic border crosser whose media productions merge artistic genres. His works are provocative because they are multi-layered and ambiguous, leaving room for his own thoughts and associations.
Lutz Dammbeck's cinematic and visual art work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, including "Das XX. Jahrhundert. A Century of Art in Germany" (Nationalgalerie Berlin, 1999), "Paranoia" (Akademie der Künste Berlin, 2006), "Art and the Cold War: German Positions 1945-1989" (Los Angeles County Art Museum, 2009).
