Praised by FonoForum as "one of the most spectacular cellists of our time", Johannes Moser has been one of the world's leading cellists, not least since his brilliant debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Zubin Mehta. In 2016, he performed at the BBC Proms in London for the first time, most recently in summer 2021. His chamber music partner for this concert is pianist Fabian Müller, who caused a sensation in 2017 when he won five prizes at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, including the Audience Award.
Together they will play romantic works by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. This moderated concert will begin with a work by Nadia Boulanger, the most important composition teacher of the 20th century, whose students include Aaron Copland, Astor Piazolla and Philip Glass. The three pieces for cello and piano, composed in 1914/15, are influenced by Impressionism.
