Film about a lawyer's affair with her stepson - unexpected desire as an interplay between tenderness and toughness.
France 2023, Written and directed by Catherin Breillat, Length: 104 min., FSK: 16
DA: Léa Drucker, Samuel Kircher, Olivier Rabourdin, Clotilde Courau and others.
Théo is at that age when boundaries are tested. As the mother of two adopted daughters and a lawyer specializing in family law, Anne (Léa Drucker) knows she should be pulled. She is three times his age. Not despite this, but because of it, they become lovers. Their age difference has an attraction that she cannot resist. Their affair begins at the eye level of playfulness. Suddenly Anne can return to a phase of her life that is long behind her.
While moral categories are left out of this movie, the
feelings take an abrupt turn when Anne denies everything. Her career and family
are under threat. She acts like a lawyer who has to get ahead of
the other side. Breillat stages this tug-of-war as a duel of close-ups.
Is the love that was once confession now turning into betrayal? Breillat
refuses to close the window for good. The curiosity about her characters
is too strong
