"There will be no laughter!" Orphan Dorothy lives with her relatives in Kansas. The hard life on the farm has made Aunt Em and Uncle Henry just as gray as the sun-bleached surroundings. But one day the unthinkable happens. In a whirlwind, Dorothy and her small house are carried away to the magical, colorful land of Oz. Far away from her family, Dorothy feels strange and alone. On the advice of the helpful Witch of the North, she sets off for the Emerald City to find the mighty Wizard of Oz to help her return home. On her journey, she meets three whimsical characters: a tin man who would like to have a heart, a scarecrow who longs for brains, and a lion who would like to be brave. Together, the four follow the yellow brick road to the wizard in the hope that he can grant their wishes. But the wicked Witch of the West is hot on their heels and wants to prevent the friends from reaching their destination.
