The largest Christmas market in the north
Once a year, the pre-Christmas glow of lights along the Warnow and Baltic Sea transforms Rostock's historic city center between Neuer Markt and Kröpeliner Tor into the largest and one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in northern Germany. Time-honored town houses and churches - stone witnesses to Rostock's glorious history as a Hanseatic city - look down on the colorful hustle and bustle of the market. It smells deliciously of mulled wine and Christmas cookies, Rostock smoked sausage, baked banana and other delicacies. Visitors can look forward to contemplative fun, carousels and a Ferris wheel, presents for the gift table and an entertaining Christmas program for children. With a food mile, Christmas carnival, Christmas stage magic, fairytale forest and craftsmen's corner, the Rostock Christmas market offers highlights for the whole family and creates Christmas anticipation.
With the popular reusable mulled wine cups, which have become real collectors' items over the last few decades, paper bags, reusable crockery and cutlery and LED-powered lighting units, the Rostock Christmas Market also fulfills its responsibility to sustainability.
Where single-use is unavoidable, biodegradable materials are used.
If you would like to combine your Christmas shopping with a special experience for the whole family, then visit Rostock and experience the cosmopolitan and hospitable flair of our Hanseatic city with its living traditions, Gothic churches, gables and towers.
