Kaskade: Modern music and relevance - a concert lecture by composer Chris Jarret
"MODERN MUSIC AND RELEVANCE"
(a concert lecture by composer Chris Jarrett)
How do the poles of "aesthetics" and "relevance" relate to each other in musical matters? Or is beauty even defined by its relevance? Especially in the music of the 20th and 21st centuries, there is a conflict between the different expectations that are placed on music. But a society that is afraid of the truthful, because little profit can be expected here, will attract listeners who expect the distracting in music and lose sensitivity for the statements that it may contain.
It is listened to according to "culinary" ideas.
Chris Jarrett, pianist, organist and composer, will tackle the subject of relevance using historical examples as well as his own music at the piano, knowing full well that he can only lightly touch on the huge subject in 90 minutes.
A rare opportunity to experience a composer analyzing his own music.
In this season's exhibition, we are showing:
Photographs by world traveler Andreas Torn, who portrayed the Himba ethnic group in Namibia,
as well as large-format, abstract landscapes by painter Ute Gallmeister
