w./ PETER EHWALD - Saxophone, JOHANNES LAUER - Fender Rhodes Piano, LAURA ROBLES - Cajón
Laura Robles, Johannes Lauer and Peter Ehwald met 15 years ago in Lima (Peru). Lauer and Ehwald are both improvisers and composers with a European background.
Robles is a well-known cajónera from Lima. For Laura Robles, this encounter was the beginning of a new musical concept that she calls Anti Groove.
It is a loose melting pot of repetition, morphing and improvisation, of oral tradition and modernity, of dance and freedom of movement. In its processual nature, it combines the expressive possibilities of the traditional music of the Peruvian coast with rhythmic and harmonic concepts of modernity. With its very own approach to groove, the Berlin-based trio creates densely woven music of great improvisational freedom and breadth.
