Daisy von Pless, born Mary Theresa Olivia Cornwallis-West, came from the English landed gentry and soon became the most celebrated high-society lady of the late 19th century. In the course of her eventful life, she became an ardent humanist and early advocate of a united Europe.

Kristin Giertler devotes herself to this fascinating personality and tells the unusual story of a woman caught between two worlds.
