"The Christmas concert"
The Dresden Boys' Choir of the Heinrich Schütz Conservatory of the state capital Dresden spans a wide range of repertoire - from sacred and secular vocal music of the 16th century to contemporary light music. One focus is on the motets of the 16th and 18th centuries in central Germany. However, large choral works accompanied by orchestra are also regularly on the program. Since its foundation in 1971, concert tours have taken the choir to various regions of Germany and Europe, including Belgium, Finland, Russia and the tri-border region of Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In recent years, the choir traveled through China as part of a two-week tour. The Knabenchor Dresden has been a guest at several renowned festivals, such as the Dresden Music Festival and the MDR Musiksommer. At the 58th Music Festival for Young People in Neerpelt (Belgium), the ensemble won first prize with distinction.
Matthias Jung has been the conductor of the Dresden Boys' Choir since 1998. With the change of directorship, the choir was also affiliated to the Heinrich Schütz Conservatory in Dresden.
