Anke Weßling / painter and graphic artist Gertraude Bauer/ sculptor The works of the painter and graphic artist Anke Weßling combine with the works of the sculptor Gertraude Bauer to form a large whole. Both show a cross-section of their work.

Anke Weßling began studying painting and sculpture on her own in 1988. The joint work in the group "Schelfe" and in the international artist network "Baltic Art Bridge" - with Danish and Swedish artists - as well as a continuous exhibition activity at home and abroad, have helped to professionalize her work. She has been a member of GEDOK MV since 2009 and has been part of the KWW e.V. artist community with her own studio since 2012. Her work enriches public and private collections.
When asked about her work, Anke Weßling explains that she works both process-related and experimentally. Her constant working process is inspired by her engagement with the material, its ambiguity, complexity, irritation and the congruence between form and content. She is not interested in achieving a high degree of iconicity during the work process, but rather in creating an atmospheric state.
Gertraude Bauer studied theology before completing her studies at the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee in 1982 with a diploma in sculpture. She has been working as a freelance sculptor since 1984. Gertraude Bauer works exclusively with figurative sculpture. Her aim is to track down the expressive power of human appearance and translate it into a valid three-dimensional form. Natural materials such as wood and stone and their special conditions, such as initial format and texture, force her to create block-like compositions.
