The Waren City Library invites all interested parties to a reading with the author Sandra Pixberg on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 4:00 pm.
She will be reading from her latest novel, "Das Orakel von Jasmund", which was published by Mitteldeutscher Verlag in 2022.
About the book:
The year is 1824 and Johann, a Prussian officer's boy, is not only too old and too clever for the job. His master, Tassilo von Wrangel, is also slightly underexposed and prefers to pass the time with receptions. The king chooses him, of all people, to travel to Sassnitz on the island of Rügen. This makes the officer's boy and his master the first "tourists" in the fishing village. At the same time, an unknown body is discovered on the beach in Sassnitz. During their search for the identity of the deceased, they are attacked by the so-called Hertha women, who live far from civilization in the Stubbenkammer.
Sandra Pixberg's story, which is embedded in historical facts, is based on one of the most famous legends of Rügen and reads as excitingly as a thriller.
The author Sandra Pixberg studied cultural studies in Bremen and worked there as a freelance journalist. She moved to Rügen in 2002. Her first book was published in 2007 - the biography of an island pastor in the Age of Enlightenment. This was followed in 2011 by the Bremen crime thriller "Viertelmord. Chavis and the dead dancer". Over the next few years, she exclusively published hiking and cycling guides of Rügen and the neighboring islands. Finally, in 2022, the Rügen novel "Das Orakel von Jasmund" was published.
