Experience Ascension on the Baltic Sea! The Santa Barbara Anna in Rostock is looking for fellow sailors. Enjoy unforgettable days at sea.
A historic three-masted topsail schooner is waiting for you. It was built in 1951 in Lowestoft as an Arctic trawler. The schooner used to be called ‘Vanessa Ann’ and belonged to the Dalby Steam Fishing Company. It sailed near Iceland and monitored oil platforms in the North Sea. It was decommissioned after an engine failure.
A British sailor discovered the ship and bought it to convert it into a cargo ship. He had a new engine and a controllable pitch propeller installed in Denmark. In 1984, he sold the ship to Reg March and Jack Scott. They made the schooner fit again.
A sailing experience awaits you on this ship. The high forecastle and the bridge house were removed. The deckhouse became a deck saloon with a sun deck. The schooner rig utilises the foundations of the fishing equipment. Sail and experience the freedom of the sea.
