On the 4th weekend of Advent, the Schwerin-Mueß Open-Air Museum opens its doors for 2 atmospheric market days with arts and crafts, music, treats and family offers.
It smells of cinnamon, mulled wine, all kinds of pastries, sausages and hay. Visitors browse and marvel at the artisans' market stalls. Music can be heard and children laugh here and there. Anyone who has been to the traditional "wintersonnenWERKE" arts and crafts market at the Mueß Open-Air Museum usually comes back again and again. Every year, many visitors appreciate the cozy and informal atmosphere between the atmospherically illuminated farm cottages and barns at the winter solstice.
Anyone looking for a unique gift idea for the present table just before Christmas will find plenty of inspiration at this Advent market. Visitors will find accessories and unique items that you won't find anywhere else. Lots of natural materials, original and fascinating. Rare pieces elaborately designed and combined with different materials. Artists and craftspeople present their products made of amber, precious stones, glass, ceramics, metal, paper, linen, wool, silk... in the houses and on the market square.
There is something to discover everywhere, e.g. the Christmas parlor. In the kitchen of the Büdnerei, the historical actors of the Friends of Time Travel Mueß anno 1900 cook and bake many a delicacy to taste and snack on at the old hearth. In the historic village smithy, the master blacksmith works red-hot iron.
Pastries, hot sausages from the grill, crepes, punch, mulled wine and live music invite you to linger here and there in a cozy, festive atmosphere. Buildings, trees and market activities are magically illuminated.
With an admission ticket for 2 EURO for anyone over 140 cm tall, visitors automatically take part in the raffle. Artisans and the open-air museum contribute original and surprising offers and prizes.
The "wintersonnenWERKE" arts and crafts market is open on the 4th weekend in Advent: Saturday, December 21, 11 am - 7 pm, Sunday, December 22, 10 am - 5 pm.
