We cordially invite you to special guided tours in Doberan Minster during the winter months from November to March, every 2nd Saturday of the month from 14:00-15:15.
There are many depictions, reliefs and illustrations of animals in the cathedral. Some of them can be explored in a special public guided tour with biologist Ina Sakowski. The tours start in the entrance area of the cathedral.
Animals played an important role in the practical everyday life of the monks (e.g. food, clothing, medicine). They were also constant companions, often confidants and comforters to the people and frequent inhabitants of the many monastery buildings. A number of them still live within the sacred walls of the cathedral today.
