On the first day of the year, brave souls come together to plunge into the Bodden floods. Anyone who wants to cheer on from the shore is also very welcome.
On New Year's afternoon, winter water rats and the water-shy meet up for the traditional swim at Focker Strom on Ummanz. Brave men and women plunge into the Bodden floods and are cheered on from the shore. A bratwurst stand and mulled wine bar ensure a cozy atmosphere.

The bathing itself, organized by the Friends of the Ummanz Volunteer Fire Brigade, is free of charge. Mulled wine, non-alcoholic drinks and hearty grilled food can be purchased.
