A king has 12 daughters. They are good during the day, but night after night they disappear from their beds and nobody knows where. So it says in the collection of fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm. The night plays a major role there, as it does in many other fairy tales and stories. But the night is also the best time for oral storytelling. Why? We want to find out, with texts by the Brothers Grimm, from 1001 Nights, by Wilhelm Hauff, ETA Hoffmann, de la Motte Fouque and others. Tilman Spreckelsen, born in 1967 and editor of the FAZ, presents texts on nocturnal storytelling.
