ALASKA by Max Gleschinski (D 2019, 102 min)
After a break in her life, Kerstin (Christina Große) returns to the place of her childhood. She puts the red GDR kayak in the water and begins a journey across the Mecklenburg Lake District. Between tourism and dreariness, the kayak becomes a protective capsule for her - until one day she meets Alima (Pegah Ferydoni). She finds the constant paddling, the tranquillity of nature and the lack of a radio network annoying - Kerstin is a welcome change. The different women continue their journey together, but gradually Kerstin's past catches up with her and challenges her once and for all...
LUCAS THIEM: dramaturgy / script collaboration
Lucas Thiem was born in 1991 in Neustrelitz, Mecklenburg. He worked in various industries before starting his studies at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin in 2015. There he produced the ARTE web series TALES FROM THE BLUE BUS, among others. Alongside his studies, he worked for the Berlinale section "Perspektive Deutsches Kino" and supervised film workshops for young people as part of the "Klappe gegen Rassismus" project. In 2019, his documentary film NOT HERE TO CRITICIZE about the faltering Neustrelitz State Theatre celebrated its premiere at the FILMKUNSTFEST MV. As a scholarship holder of the FILMKUNSTFEST MV and the Künstlerhaus Lukas 2024, Thiem is represented in the special program of the Ahrenshooper Filmnächte 2024 and will be a guest on site.
