as part of the 24th Ahrenshoop Jazz Festival
"Voices!"
For the upcoming edition of the Ahrenshooper Social Club, musical director Lutz Gerlach has chosen the theme "Voices".
The human voice is the oldest (and probably the most beautiful) instrument in the world and will be the focus in 2025. In the tradition of the great old jazz singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra, but also of Al Jareau, Bobby Mc Ferrin and the younger generations such as Victoria Tolstoy and Ida Sand, this time the focus will be on songs and famous jazz standards.
As always, Lutz Gerlach will be supported on the piano by his partner, classical pianist Ulrike Mai, and other professional and virtuoso guest musicians. The concert will also include "Das Lied von Ahrenshoop", which Oswald Körte composed over 100 years ago and which the singer Gunther Emmerlich, who died in 2024, recorded together with Lutz Gerlach for the artists' village in 2017.
