Adult orchestra rings in the pre-Christmas season in the Schelfkirche
On Sunday, December 1, 2024 - exactly on the 1st Advent - at 4 pm, the Schelfoniker invite you to this year's Advent concert in the Schelfkirche.
The program includes the "Haffner" Serenade by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is the only one of his serenades to have achieved some fame. Nevertheless, it is rarely heard in concert. This composition is an incredibly lively and humorous work, full of contrasts and surprises.
The work was commissioned by the wealthy Salzburg patron Sigmund Haffner. It was performed on July 21, 1776 for the wedding of his sister Maria Elisabeth. The serenade is the main work in the Schelfoniker's program.
It will be framed by two movements from Peter Tchaikovsky's famous and extremely popular "Nutcracker" suite, which is considered a musical fairytale wonder, especially in the run-up to Christmas.
Matthias Ellinger is the conductor. Admission is free. Donations for projects of the Schwerin Conservatory are kindly requested.
