As part of the event series "35 Years of Peaceful Revolution", the town hall is showing two exhibitions by the Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship.
One of the two exhibitions is entitled Peaceful Revolution and German Unity Compact. In this exhibition, maps and illustrated timelines show the chronological and geographical contexts of the years 1989 to 1990, illustrating the global historical framework, developments in East Central Europe, the Peaceful Revolution in the GDR, its self-democratization and the path to German unity.
The exhibition "...those who were denied participation." East German democrats in the early post-war period shows the stories of 30 courageous men and women who, despite the great risks, worked for a new democratic beginning in the Soviet occupation zone and early GDR after 1945 - and almost always had to pay a high price for it.
