Whether new fishing techniques, boats, canoes or bait, a competition on the drill simulator or professional smoking - the first Fishing & Water Sports Expo is planning interesting offers for anglers of all ages from 11 to 12 May in Röbel (Mecklenburg Lake District).
Over the two days, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., everything in the harbor of the Müritz town will revolve around one of the Germans' most popular hobbies. A good 30 exhibitors offer state-of-the-art fishing equipment. On the large show stage, visitors can talk shop, talk, cook and play music.
Well-known names from the scene, such as Rostock fishing legend Peter Rinow and NDR cult duo Heinz Galling and Horst Hennings, will be on hand to teach guests tricks and tips. There will also be plenty of female power. Among those taking part will be "Angel-Anni" from Göhren-Lebbin, fishing expert Dörte Adamschak from Röbel and Sternberg fisherwoman Pauline Rettig. Visitors will also have the chance to try their hand at fishing themselves
The event in Röbel is supported by the Landesanglerverband (LAV) and the Deutscher Angelfischerverband. Among other things, the latter will be on site with the "Angling goes to school" info mobile.
The patron of the event is Minister of Agriculture Dr. Till Backhaus. The minister and other celebrities will be in action on the show stage alongside the well-known professional chef Moritz Freudentahl. The focus will be on preparing white fish.
Meanwhile, young anglers will also be providing freshly caught finfish, which will be prepared in the show kitchen. At the Expo, fishing pro Rinow will teach them the basics of fishing on the banks of the Müritz, both theoretically and practically.
With the help of the young anglers, so-called bait decorations will also be created in the run-up to the event. Specifically, cancer patients from MV are creating works of art from wood under the guidance of the well-known artificial lure specialist Dennis Irrgang from Neuruppin (Brandenburg). These pieces, certified by Irrgang, will then be auctioned off at the Expo. The proceeds will go to the Rostock children's cancer charity.
The largest fishing event in the north-east takes place during the traditional "Müritz-Sail". This water sports spectacle will also provide fun and entertainment in Waren and Rechlin from May 9 to 12. The official starting signal for the major maritime event, which includes a large fireworks display on the Saturday of the Sail, will be given on May 18 in Waren's town harbour.
Admission is free for visitors.
