Lecture on the history and present of the KdF seaside resort in Prora in cooperation with the Prora documentation Centre
20,000 people were supposed to be able to holiday in Prora under the Nazi regime. But the plans for the KdF seaside resort Rügen in Prora were never realised. Between 1936 and 1939, construction did take place and the complex was largely completed. But no one ever went on holiday there. In the 1950s, the site, which was ready for construction, was extended and used for military purposes until the political turnaround. The lecture »The Colossus of Rügen« deals with the extraordinary architecture of the complex, but also with the history and present of the »Colossus of Rügen«.
