In the almost 400 m² garden there are about 100 different wild herbs, of which about 5% are kitchen herbs.
The wild herb conservation garden, which has existed since 2005, is open all year round and accessible at all times. Outside of the cultural Sundays, the herb women are there every Monday from 14.00 to approx. 17.00 o'clock for guided tours and consultations with pleasure and have still the one or other culinary speciality and surprise ready for you. In the almost 400 m² garden there are about 100 different wild herbs, of which about 5% are kitchen herbs.
Right next to the herb garden there is a herb house where the herb women dry and pack tea, prepare herbal jelly, receive visitors and provide information. Only a few meters away is the village community center "Uns Dörphus". Here visitors can be provided with a snack or a herbal tea. The medicinal herbs can be explained vividly in the herb garden and we give hints where these herbs can be found in nature. Taste, processing and health aspects are discussed in the garden or in the herb house. Recipes for the collected herbs are available on site. The "Völkshäger Kräuterblättern" (Völkshäger Herb Sheets) contain a variety of healing, useful and tasty recipes, ranging from tea and jelly to body care and herbal schnapps.
By the "Garden Academy Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" with seat in Marihn near Neubrandenburg the wild herb conservation garden Völkshagen was lent in the year 2010 as acknowledgment and honor the badge "nature in the garden ", of which our herb women can be justly proud.
Völkshagen with the wild herb conservation garden is part of the cycling network "Tour of the Stones" between Ribnitz-Damgarten and the Green City Marlow. After Ribnitz-Damgarten there are 11.5 kilometers through forest and meadow, which are to be developed into a medicinal herb path.
Since its foundation in 1999, the village association "Helmuth Schröder", which runs the wild herb conservation garden, has endeavored to shape the cultural life in Völkshagen in a versatile way. The village community center as well as the surrounding spacious area invites to various activities. Because it is relatively secluded, private celebrations can be a bit louder there. Particularly interesting are the Culture and Baking Sundays, which take place every summer from around mid-June, where you can not only enjoy fresh bread from the wood-burning oven and coffee and cake, but also experience a variety of cultural performances.
