Die Fährdienste der Weißen Flotte GmbH mit Sitz in Stralsund verbinden nicht nur reizvolle Landschaftsteile Mecklenburg-Vorpommerns, sie dienen in erster Linie dazu, dem Individualverkehr kurze Überfahrten über Bodden- und Sundgewässer entlang der Küste zu ermöglichen.

Die Insel Hiddensee – eine wahre Perle in der Ostsee – liegt wie ein Wellenbrecher vor der Westküste Rügens. Sie ist ca. 18 km lang und 1 km breit. Einwohner und Liebhaber der Insel nennen sie in der plattdeutschen Mundart das „söte Länneken“, was soviel wie süßes Ländchen bedeutet. Die Vielfalt der Natur, die sich in ihrer unberührten Schönheit präsentiert und die einmaligen Landschaftsbilder sind für gestresste Menschen Quelle der Erholung. Die modernen Fahrgastschiffe der Reederei Hiddensee (eine 100%ige Tochter der Weißen Flotte) bringen Sie das ganze Jahr im Linienverkehr ab Schaprode und in der Saison zusätzlich von Stralsund, Zingst auf dem Darß sowie von Wiek auf Rügen in alle drei Häfen der Insel Hiddensee. Die kürzeste Verbindung von Hohe Düne nach Warnemünde ist die Warnowfähre in Warnemünde.

    Brick trench bridge - Rügen dam

    The Rügen causeway is the first fixed trafficable crossing of the Strelasund, over which both the old B 96, the Stralsund-Sassnitz railroad line and a footpath and cycle path lead. It was completed in 1937.
