The Dömitz water hiking center, located at the southern end of the Müritz-Elde waterway, is not only the starting or ending point for boat tours on the Elde Canal, but also for tours on the Elbe, the Löcknitz and the Rögnitz.
Located at the "gateway" to the Müritz-Elde waterway is the Dömitz water hiking center. Canoes and motorboats can moor here to take a shorter or longer break. Because the tranquil Dömitz and its surroundings have a lot to offer. Only a few kilometers away, near Klein Schmölen, are the largest inland dunes in Europe in the Mecklenburg Elbe Valley Nature Park. These can be easily reached by bike or on foot, other points of interest could be the Dömitz Fortress or the high ropes forest. Another destination that can be reached by both land and water could be Rüterberg. The small village on the Elbe became nationally known as a village republic in Wende times. A local history museum still reminds us of the time when Rüterberg was cut off from the rest of the world.
Those planning a longer stay in Dömitz can spend the night in the water hiking center. For this purpose, a tent meadow located directly on the water is available, in addition, motor homes can also use the designated parking spaces directly at the harbor. Hot showers, sanitary facilities and washing-up facilities are available.
