A garden with several ponds, including a swimming pond, thematically different, spacious garden areas, an extensive prairie shrub planting as well as woody border plantings is home to well over 1,200 plant species and varieties. 100 different grasses alone, from Chinese reed to small trembling grass, bring lightness to the near-natural garden with incomparable views of the surrounding agricultural landscape. The garden is open from the beginning of May to the end of October by appointment.
Garden spaces
The garden divided into clearly separated, yet interconnected garden spaces. Absolute priority has been given to the direct visual connection between the living interior and the garden through large terrace windows. Thus, the pond garden with the main pond is also located directly in front of the terrace.
4 changing seasons
Early spring welcomes visitors with daffodils and tulip topiaries.
Throughout the summer, however, the shapes and especially the colors of the hostas clearly dominate the image of the north-facing "shade garden". Already relatively early in the fall, the hostas turn yellow, ferns and faded astilbes take over the scene. The entire scene of the north side radiates calm and balance. Here the garden is in steady evolution into a perennial paradise. Phlox, sunflowers, grasses, but also one or the other perennial that prefers the somewhat less sun-exposed garden spaces shall find their place here.
In the summer garden, cherry trees and parasols provide shade. If the days get longer, the summer garden, which is considered beneficial in midsummer, is shaded quite early in the afternoon. Then the sunshine warms until the evening in the south at the edge of the tall shrubbery. The direct view into the extensive perennial plantings of the prairie garden and the field behind it is unique.
