Stralsund’s water sports centre is in Dänholm, a small island in the Strelasund between Stralsund and Rügen Island, directly by the Ziegelgraben bridge and below the new Rügen bridge.
Here, boaters and non-boaters will find a large sailing and motorboat harbour with a small bistro and stunning views of Stralsund’s skyline, three magnificent churches, the Gorch Fock, storehouses and the oceanarium.
The jetty is well protected by the large harbour pier (eastern pier) and a good starting point to go north (e.g. lake Hiddensee, Barhöft, the Baltic Sea) or eastwards through the bascule bridge (e.g. the Bay of Greifswald, Usedom Island).
The water sports centre flies the "Blue Flag" that stands for good environmental management and water quality.
Eight clubs have their berths there in about 250 boxes and five jetties. The main jetty will be newly built at the beginning of 2018, and from summer 2018 there will be a sixth floating jetty as a resting area with an additional 25 comfortable berths. There are also guest berths with water depths of 1.70 to 2.40 m, for when the local boats are away. The free spaces are marked green and they are allocated by the harbour master.
The centre’s facilities include sanitary facilities, a slip, a manually operated mast crane and a stationary crane with a hoisting capacity of up to 10 t, which can also be used by non-members.
