Observe - grasp - marvel - enjoy in the largest medicinal herb garden in Mecklenburg. In addition to medicinal herbs, you will also find aromatic, magical and dyeing plants, as well as a butterfly garden and a typical North German farm garden. The garden's harvest can be tasted in the garden café and children can let off steam in the playscape.
More than 900 plant species can be admired in the 15,000 square meter area of the Wangelin Garden in the Mecklenburg Lake District region, making it the largest herb garden of its kind in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
In nine departments you will learn interesting facts about the history of our cultivated plants. The arc of time ranges from Charlemagne's land ordinance to today's use of the plant as a model for technical developments. On thematic beds, arranged according to disease patterns, you will get a comprehensive impression of traditional and current uses of medicinal plants. Be inspired by the effects of essential oils in the fragrant plant garden and observe the interaction of plant and insect in the butterfly garden. In the farmer's garden we grow both traditional and largely unknown varieties of vegetables.
You can taste the garden's diversity in our café in the form of small daily dishes. And while the grown-ups may browse in the farm store, the little ones romp around in our play landscape with willow maze, molehill, magic flower and KinderGarten.
Interested guests will find vivid examples of alternative building in the clay experimental buildings on the grounds.
Please inform yourself or come by the Wangelin Garden to observe - grasp - marvel - enjoy.
