Holy Cross Monastery Church
The church of the former Holy Cross Monastery dates back to the foundation of the monastery by Margaret of Denmark in 1270. Today's church still has many works of art from the Middle Ages, but also shows traces of 19th century remodeling. It has been used by the university since 1899 and is structurally part of the Cultural History Museum of the Hanseatic City of Rostock, which uses parts of the monastery complex.
Sunday services are usually celebrated at 7 p.m., with the Faculty of Theology alternating with the inner-city congregation.
The church can be visited free of charge through the Cultural History Museum of the Hanseatic City of Rostock during its opening hours (Tuesday-Sunday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.).
