The church of the island town of Malchow is known as a landmark with its exciting history. Before the church was built at its current location, it was located on the island near the town hall.
Due to the poor structural condition of this "island church" and the boggy ground, the then pastor Ferdinand Stolzenburg decided to launch an initiative to build a new church on the mainland, because the majority of the population had already moved there.
