The recognized resort Mirow is located in the nature experience region Mecklenburgische Kleinseenplatte. A mixture of picturesque nature and historical ambience characterize the place. The staff of the tourist information will be happy to help you organize and arrange your stay in the region.
Amidst a picturesque chain of lakes, crisscrossed by rivers and canals and surrounded by a unique evergreen forest landscape, friendly people and diverse architecture welcome their visitors. Mirow is the birthplace of the English Queen Sophie Charlotte. The listed castle island is composed of two parts. The landmark of the town is the gatehouse from 1588, which is located in front of the main island. On the castle island, the baroque castle, the artistic bridge to the love island, where the resting place of the last Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz - Adolf Friedrich VI is located, and the Gothic brick building of the Johanniterkirche impressively present the history of the small town of Mirow. The Johanniterkirche houses the princely crypt, where the reigning dukes with their wives and closest family members found their final resting place. The church tower is an accessible lookout point with 146 steps to climb. Since July 2010, the history of Mecklenburg-Strelitz County can be experienced in an interactive exhibition in the "3 Queens Palace" on Mirow Castle Island. The castle next door is also open to interested visitors. The buildings of the former Johanniter brewery, which are located behind the church, are definitely worth exploring. In the former "Eiskeller" you can dine today in the "Ritterkeller" in the style of a knight.
