Welcome to Neubrandenburg, the city of adventure on the edge of the Mecklenburg Lake District and in the middle of a hilly landscape formed by the glaciers of the Ice Age. The city, which is over 750 years old, invites you to an exciting journey of discovery with impressive historical evidence.
You will feel the romance of the Middle Ages during a stroll along the almost completely preserved 2.3 km long city wall with its four magnificent city gates, the Wiekhäuser and the Mönchenturm. One of the impressive contemporary witnesses of North German brick Gothic is the concert church of St. Marien with its monumental east gable. After almost complete destruction, it now houses an architecturally charming concert hall. A visit will be an unforgettable experience. The west tower of the Marienkirche houses the permanent special exhibition "Ways of Brick Gothic in Neubrandenburg for Wehr and Zier".
The very well developed and over 200 km long network of cycling and hiking trails in the area of the Tollense basin offers the very best conditions to relax far away from the often so hectic everyday life. A hike, Nordic walking or bike tour around the Tollense Lake is a particularly charming experience for many nature lovers. Enjoy impressive chains of hills, long river valleys, wide plains - the result of the formation of the landscape during the ice age. We will be happy to advise you on planning your hiking routes.
