Tourist information and welcome centres

Between the largest metropolises of Northern Germany, Berlin and Hamburg, the vacation region Mecklenburg - Schwerin stretches. Just get out of everyday life and discover this beauty by water or by land.

Mecklenburg-Schwerin is close to metropolises like Hamburg and Berlin and yet quickly far away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. This region is characterized by its unique natural beauty. Gentle lush hills, hundreds of lakes and meandering rivers bear witness to the powerful natural forces of the Ice Age that once created this idyllic region.

Dukes, nobility, farmers and the church have left their fingerprints on the vast cultural landscape with avenues and roads, the most imposing castles, residence towns, manor houses, forests and estate villages. Agriculture shapes the face of the region in large parts. While nobility and princes have long been a thing of the past, rural and farming traditions are alive in many places. Buckthorn, rapeseed, heather, potatoes are the focus of many festivals in the annual calendar.

Nature is never far away. Two biosphere reserves, two nature parks and countless protected landscapes guard rare species of plants and animals. - Explorers are welcome to information centers and to hikes and boat tours with rangers and nature guides.

An ideal place to switch off and let your thoughts run free. It is not without reason that this area becomes a muse for artists, musicians and craftsmen. Many a person realizes his dreams of a workshop, studio or gallery here. Visitors are welcome on the ManufakTour route or at Whitsun, when the yellow umbrellas point the way to the numerous artists.

Relaxation, deceleration, being on the road and at the same time - arriving, coming down, getting out. Special escapes from everyday life lead back to nature and to oneself. Pilgrimages and hikes between ancient monasteries, retreats, long rides under wide skies, the whir of the bike and the rustle of the leafy canopy.

Why don't you come and join us in Mecklenburg-Schwerin?
