A very special Bible that was printed in Barth in 1588. At that time, the language spoken in this region was Middle Low German, and the Barth Bible was written in precisely this language. Duke Bogislaw XIII was the one who commissioned the printing of this Bible. Around 500 copies were printed and the Bible itself is a real work of art with beautiful woodcuts.
Today, the Barth Bible is an important cultural asset and can be admired in various museums and libraries. There is even a Bible center in Barth itself, where you can learn all about the history of this special Bible.
