The bright, thatched half-timbered house in the palace park was built as the summer residence of Duchess Luise at the end of the 18th century in Ludwigslust Palace Park.
The Schweizerhaus is located in the northwestern part of Ludwigslust Palace Park. It was built around 1790 by Johann Joachim Busch as the summer residence of the duchess. The cottage-like style of the house is deliberately kept rather simple in comparison. The thatched roof is reminiscent of typical rural architecture and creates a retreat that exudes rural idyll. The house is integrated into the park via numerous visual axes and visual relationships. It thus corresponded entirely to the taste of the time of courtly society, which longed for a supposedly simpler rural life.
Events are held on the lawn in front of the Schweizerhaus.
