The Wohlenberger Wiek is for the most part under nature protection. Nevertheless, you can really let off steam here with kites and sails. For this purpose, the municipality has set up a surfing zone from May 1 to September 15. The protected location makes the Wohlenberger Wiek a flawless shallow water playground with wind from west to northeast.
The Wohlenberger Wiek belongs to the Wismar Bay and is partly under strict nature protection. However, thanks to the surf zone set up especially for windsurfers and kiters, you can still get out on the water in the period from April 1 to October 15. The protected location and the large shallow water area offer both beginners and professionals very good conditions. Due to the course of the shore, you also have a relatively large wind radius from southwest to east. In the high season, however, many swimmers are to be expected, especially in the southern part of the bay, which is why you have to be considerate then. An alternative entry point is on the eastern shore near the campsite. There you will also find a surf school with an extensive training program and rental facilities. The spot is suitable for wind directions from W to NE.
Facilities:
- Toilets (at the exit of Wohlenberg or at the end of the 40 zone or the parking lot).
- Offer of the surf school - instruction windsurfing, kiting, sailing
- parking facilities < 50 m far away, subject to charges
