With perfect flat water and a gigantic standing area, Schaprode is made for refining your style under laboratory conditions. But stay away from the fairway! You are not allowed to kite at this creamy spot for nature conservation reasons. Optimal conditions are provided by winds from southwest to northwest.
The idyllic ferry town of Schaprode is a popular starting point for trips to the neighboring island of Hiddensee. Consequently, the place is just so crowded with tourists, especially in the high season. The best access to the spot is from the campsite, as it is located directly on the beach. The shallow water area is large enough and also suitable for beginners. Under the surface of the water there are some bigger rocks which are only partly marked and you have to pay attention to them. You should also be aware of the fairway not far from the shore and avoid it. Unfortunately, the spot Schaprode is reserved only for windsurfers, because kitesurfing is not allowed here according to the nature conservation regulations. A small windsurfing school, which will help you with words and deeds, can be found directly on site. The spot is suitable for wind directions from SW to NW.
Facilities:
- Toilets, showers, waste disposal (camping site)
- Offers of the surf school - training windsurf, canoe, sailing
- Parking facilities < 500 m far away, subject to fees
