The optimal wind direction for the wave spot is east. Then small, steep ramps build up on the numerous sandbanks, which are nice to ride down.
In the southern part of the Island of Rügen is the Zudar Peninsula. On it, a little hidden, lies the spot Grabow. In the vicinity you will find neither a campsite, vacation apartment nor a catering facility. If you put up with this, you will be almost undisturbed in Grabow and will be offered pure nature. Especially for budding surfers there are good conditions at this spot with winds from the east due to the numerous sandbanks and especially in the direction of the "Palmer Orts". The waves become quite steep especially further out and invite you to go down. Even if you can't be driven to the open Baltic Sea with these wind directions you should still be careful, because the saving mainland is a few kilometers away. If you like bigger waves, you should rather go to spots on the east and north coast of Rügen. The spot is suitable for wind directions from NE to SW.
