Baabe is a top location with easterly wind directions. The waves break cleanly on the sandbank and run onto the beach with a moderate shorebreak. In high season, you are not allowed to go on the water in the bathing zone marked with buoys.
The state-approved seaside resort Baabe is located on the Mönchgut peninsula on the southeast coast of Rügen. With its long and fine sandy beach, the spot offers the best conditions for a relaxing Baltic Sea vacation. In the summer months it is therefore sometimes quite crowded on the beach, so that especially kiting is possible without danger only in the evening hours. With easterly wind directions Baabe develops into a good wave spot and due to the offshore sandbanks the waves break about 100 meters in front of the beach. Due to the relatively shallow shore, the shore break is kept within limits, which is why wave beginners also get their money's worth in Baabe. There is a surf school right at the spot, which offers a variety of activities even on days with less wind. The spot is suitable for wind directions from N to SE.
