For water sports, there is the signposted surf zone here, with perfect sideshore conditions in westerly and northeasterly winds. But the spot has cult status due to the "Ferry Wave Surfing": When every two hours a ferry from Denmark arrives in the harbor, it brings small but fine wave sets that can be ridden cleanly with SUP or longboard.
Warnemünde is a district of the city of Rostock with 200,000 inhabitants. The seaside resort is not only an attraction for tourists but also for the local youth. So you are guaranteed a large audience. However, there is only a small area for setting up equipment and the actual surfing area is behind the bathing zone. The spot is very special for real surfers, because they use it for "Ferry Wave Surfing", when one of the big ferries enters the harbor. With a surf school and a stand bar right on the spot, interesting entertainment and cool drinks are also provided away from the surfing fun. You will certainly not get bored here. Only the approach could be a bit long in good weather due to the crowds of people streaming to Warnemünde. The spot is suitable for wind directions from W to NE.
