At the Strelasund you can surf with a southeast to west wind with a view of the skyline of the Hanseatic City of Stralsund and the impressive Rügen Bridge. On the lawn you have plenty of space to set up.
The Altefähr spot is located in the direct vicinity of the Hanseatic City of Stralsund. The direct view of the impressive Rügen Bridge and the historic old town create a very special flair. Located directly on the shore of the Strelasund, Altefähr is not only a popular recreation spot for the people of Stralsund, but also a nice surfing spot with good standing areas and even a surf school on site. However, in contrast to windsurfing, kitesurfing is not allowed here during the summer months according to the beach bylaws. Due to the somewhat sheltered location of the spot, there are sometimes gusty winds due to wind cover. In addition, the waves outside the standing area can get quite choppy. The preferred wind direction for this spot is west to northwest, then the wind blows unhindered over the Bodden. The water edge at the entrance is fortified by wooden piers, which is why there is no real beach. But the lawn offers plenty of space for setting up. The spot is suitable for wind directions from SE to W.
