Surf spots

Hang loose awaits you in Suhrendorf. With a kite and windsurf school, stores and camping site, everything is there. There's even a casual surf hostel right behind the beach. And the beach bar with a view of the sunset over the island of Hiddensee puts the icing on the cake. With southwest to north winds, you get your money's worth here.

Suhrendorf is one of the most sought-after surf spots on the island of Rügen and is located in the western part of the small island of Ummanz. From here you have a beautiful panoramic view of the neighboring island of Hiddensee across the Bodden. Suhrendorf is ideally suited for windsurfers and kiters of all skill levels due to the shallow water conditions. Actually, the spot is one of the largest standing areas in Germany but due to nature conservation regulations it has been restricted to a smaller designated water sports zone. Accommodation here is specially designed for surfers and you will be in good hands at the local school. The best access to the water is through the campsite. However, you will have to buy a day ticket. The spot is suitable for wind directions from SW to N.

Facilities:

  • Suhrendorf (campground): Toilets, showers, waste disposal
  • Haide: toilets, waste disposal
  • Offers of the surf school - instruction windsurfing, kiting, SUP, canoeing
  • Parking facilities < 500 m (Suhrendorf or Haide) far away, free of charge

Detailed information about the spot Suhrendorf can be found on the linked website of www.surflocal.de. There you can also find 3D panorama photos of the spot, get in touch with the locals or arrange to surf together with friends.
