The atonement stone of Zepelin stands in memory of a murder at this place in the forest of Darnow.
The atonement stone commemorates a double murder committed in 1623. When the mayor of Demmin, Alexander von Harten, took a rest at this spot, he and also his coachman were treacherously murdered by his servant out of greed for money. The stone served in the meantime as a stepping stone in the manor house Wolken. In 1891 the stone was put back in its place. It is located in a wooded area on the Bützow-Schwaan road. Behind the railroad line a path leads into the forest. At a forest intersection about 150 m to the right.
