At the end of Schaprode stands the legendary atonement stone from times long past.
The 2.40 m high atonement cross is located on the main road at the northern exit of Schaprode. The upper part of the stone slab is worked out in the shape of a circle, and on this in turn two other small circular shapes ("ears") are attached. On the stone there is a crucifix on both sides, a coat of arms and letters which are no longer decipherable today. Various legends entwine around this old weathered monument. They all come back to the von Platen family. There are reports of two monks, but also of two students from the von Platen family, who are said to have died here in a duel. Likewise the death of a bishop is mentioned again and again in connection with the murder cheek. A researcher from Stettin, on the other hand, knows that the knight Reynwart von Platen and his sons were slain here on July 15, 1368.
